The Orioles one again occupy the bottom position in American League East. It seems absurd that such a proud franchise has been reduced to perennial cellar-dwelling as of late. Now that Big Papi is getting hits again, it seems to have reinvigorated the whole team. Manny is certainly feelin’ it again, as he just jacked his 500th homer over the Green Monster last week. With the rest of Boston’s amazing cast of characters playing up to their ability, the Tampa Bay Rays need to look over their shoulder almost every day to make sure the Sox haven’t caught up to them in the AL East standings yet. While the defending World Series champs have their eyes on bigger prizes, they cannot take their focus away from the Orioles this weekend or they may lose ground in the race for the division.
